Minis in progress

Postby JonintheRedZ28 » Sat Aug 30, 2014 8:00 pm

:D I've been spraying minis now, I hand painted the Lychguard (skeleton guy), primed with mr surfacer 1000 and painted in vallejos (several blues, brass, matte and gloss blacks)
The Grey Knight Paladin is going to follow the general color scheme of my other GK so he'll have bright metal accents (likely gold and silver) and green, those also will be vallejos under the alclad gloss black base, and the chaos raptor is the one mark was using to teach me techniques at wonderfest and he wound up alclad chrome on a total whim and I have absolutely no idea what other colors I'm gonna use yet

On the chrome raptor I went with bright bronze, brass, glorious gold, gunmetal, and black eyes and transparent red for the propellant tank for the jump pack he's wearing

Bases in progress, i used old square extra bases and glued them to pieces of a broken cd, i stacked a bunch of pieces and glued them together, then used a lighter to melt the edges and then putty'd the sides up against the bases, i was trying to make the raptor look like it was blowing dust away but adding the color seems to have made the sand collapse a bit. The necron's base needs to set overnight after being sprayed (it isn't glued on, I drilled a hole for the tube in his foot before painting) it will be painted to reflect a volcanic rock area

they are lookin' good but I think you need to add some flat and semi-gloss in spots. Or Weather them so that it kills some of that super shine.

I took your advice mark, and flat coated both, the necron looks good, it has a metallic sheen to it under the clear (metallic paints), but the clear clouded on the raptor, so i let it dry, then hit with gloss, and I guess my own laziness helped because the clouding happened on the more exposed parts of the armor so they're still metallic but look somewhat oxidized
